WPUB hosts the most entertaining and exciting event of the 2009 spring semester. The Downtown Music Showcase was organized in order to introduce the Pace community to alternative music. The show will feature NYC’s rockin’est up and coming bands. If you enjoy high energy/experimental/alternative jams, you should definitely attend. Even if you’re not familiar with this style of music, come and let your ears experience an epiphany. The show will take place at 7:30pm on Thursday, March 12th in the Pace University Student Union. Yes, the show is FREE and open to the public so bring your friends. Start your Spring Break off with a bang and attend this AWESOME event!

Locksley

Locksley is a four piece rock band from Madison, Wisconsin that now resides in Brooklyn, NY. In January 2007, the band released their first album, “Don’t Make Me Wait.” They’re style of garage rock has consistently been compared to the Beatles. Their music definitely has 60’s inspired rhythm but it’s combined with the energy of contemporary rock ‘n’ roll. Since its release, Locksley became the first unsigned band to ever be aired on MTV and was chosen by Rolling Stone as one of the top 25 bands on MySpace. Locksley has toured the world opening for bands like OK Go, The Dandy Warhols, The Rapture, The Bravery, The Hives, and Rooney. In addition, their music has been featured on blockbuster movies like Cloverfield and on the Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 game Rock Band. Recently, the guys performed on Jimmy Kimmel live and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The band is currently working on their second album in Brooklyn. Check them out! |
Change the Station

Change the Station is a 3 piece alternative rock band from Brooklyn, NY. Michelle Feliciano (bass/snyth/vocals), Lisa Poole (drums/vocals), and Ian Jacobs (vocals/guitar) have been rocking the NYC area since 2005. In October of 2008, Change the Station participated in the music industry’s largest and longest running music marathon, CMJ (The College Music Journal). After their performance they received an excellent review from NYC’s Deli Magazine, “Change the Station embraces a sound that fuses alternative rock and electronic elements, contributing to an era in which indie bands have brought the synthesizer to yet a new level.” Track Listing: |

Appomattox is also a three piece alternative rock band from Brooklyn, NY. Nick Gaynier (guitar/vocals), David Nurmi (bass), and James Mello (drums) have been performing since 2003 and touring across the U.S. since 2006. Their debut album, “A O,” was released in May of 2008 with Triple Down Records. Since the release they’ve earned rave reviews from ohmyrockness.com and NYC’s Deli Magazine. One review stated Appomattox is, “indie rock instant gratification. Fast, loud, and awesome.”
